Unable to connect perspective panel on left in Eclipse Juno

This page says that I should strengthen my perspective panel in Eclipse Juno on the left, exactly as I did in Indigo, Helios and previous versions.

Except that the menu that I get when I right-click on the perspective button in the perspective panel includes only the following parameters:

  • close
  • show text

Does anyone else come across this - is there something wrong with my configuration or workspace? Or should I make a mistake?

(I am using this release: 20120614-1722)

It looks like this feature will be implemented in M20120809-1200 / 4.2.1 / Juno SR1. See this comment on eclipse error 383599 .

Docking functionality not available in Eclipse 4.2 - only in Eclipse 3.8

I'm currently expanding DnD for trim elements, including the Perspective Switcher (as well as toolbars and most of the rest of the trim). Hopefully this will happen in September with the release of SR1.

Please note that we will not put the "Dock on Left" context menu, though, since we are trying to reduce complexity by only having one way to do something ...

I would not rely on online documentation for specific information, I think that large fragments were simply copied from previous releases to a new folder and remained there.

I was also embarrassed several times by this fact (in my case, this also concerned the configuration of the user interface).

The page you provided in your link is indeed designated as Juno (4.2), but as eugener said, this function is for 3.x (Indigo).
