What do the categories in SQL Agent Agent Jobs mean?

This is the first time I'm trying to execute an SQL Job Agent . I was trying to create a sample assignment , and I got between them when it came to select a category as highlighted in the screenshot below

I'm new to SQL Server , can you explain the meaning of the categories as above? or any link would be highly appreciated.

Categories are used to organize your assignments. If you right-click on the task folder and select "Category Management", you can view all available categories, filter by category, etc.

They do not affect the work at all - this is just a means of organizing tasks - it is very useful if you have many tasks on one server.

You can add your own categories using sp_add_category in msdb .

Many of the built-in categories will be used automatically when configuring other parts of SQL Server and adding tasks. For example. if you configure merge replication, you will find that some jobs are added to the REPL-Merge category.

  • Database maintenance - these are tasks that perform maintenance (for example, updating the reindex or statistics).
  • Full-text includes full-text indexing, which allows you to search for text fields

Job categories help organize your assignments for easy filtering and grouping.
if you have several tasks for the same type of tasks or operations, than you can categorize your work according to the nature of the task.
