Does GVim display each file with an asterisk on the right (and in bold)?

It looks like this:

I'm not sure, but I think this happened when I reinstalled LAMP (Ubuntu).

All files that were similar to the ones below (not bold and do not have an asterisk).

Any suggestions?

NERDTree uses an asterisk to indicate that the item is executable, I believe. At least for me it shows up in all of my .bat and .exe files.

It looks like NERDTree. Perhaps it has a NERDTree setting.

Suggestions:

  • See if the permissions or settings (they have chmod + x) have different files that show an asterisk, and not those that don't. Have you noticed a pattern between which files are in bold and asterisk'd?
