Failed to write output file ... pdb visual studio 2010

From other answers to the same question, it seems that this error is secondary to the real problem, which is the missing source file. I do not use any source control. I looked through my entire project and do not see any files with a warning icon, which indicates its absence. If the file is missing, what is it missing?

How can I find the "missing" file? Is there no way to reset this? This whole project is stuck in this.

I had it too. Close VS and close again. Do not compile. The error list indicates which file is missing.

I also had this problem. My project was built in release mode, but did not work in debug mode. I checked that all the necessary files are included in my solution, and I found that the Settings.Designer.vb file is missing in the My Project folder. I included this file in the project and it also creates the file in debug mode.

Make sure all aspx files are available in your solutions, otherwise check WebSite.vbproj, make sure that there may be a file that is not in your code, either add this file to the solution or delete it from WebSite.vbproj, I I recommend that you use Notepad ++ to open and modify WebSite.vbproj

Another possibility is the presence of corrupted compiled dlls for the actual project (i.e. bin/<project>.dll ). In my case, I just deleted .dll and .pdb and recompiled, and the error went away.

Deleting deleted files from Solution Explorer, then recovery, solution on my computer.
