I use Window 7. I removed the shadows from my windows, but Visual Studio 2012 seems to ignore this setting and in any case draw a shadow (or glow). Is there any way to remove this shadow / glow?

In some situations, you can improve your Visual Studio performance by changing your visual experience. To change these settings, simply go to Tools → Options → Environment → General → Visual Experience:
Disable “Enable rich visual client experience” and the shadows should disappear.
