"Check for update" does not work in android studio

I tried to "check for update" in android studio.

Help>Check for Updates

but he says

Connection failed. Please check your network connection and try again

But my internet is working fine .. I also tried to disable the firewall. Is this a google service bug?

Update: whenever updates | Installation failed, start android studio as administrator .

Old answer: Perhaps this is an Android Studio bug .

The following steps can help solve this problem:

  1. Open configuration

  2. Select Settings

  3. Select HTTP Proxy

  4. Do not use proxies

  5. Restart Andriod Studio

This does not seem to be a mistake. I can confirm that the update worked fine on my home network. When on my office network, an update attempt results in a connection error.

It should have something to do with the firewall ... or some service that has not been tested to handle connections based on domain/home/public policies.

I have not tried using a proxy server in both the office and home networks.

At home, "Check for Update" works fine, but you get an error message indicated on the office network.

To avoid this error, you need to provide proxy data from your office IT administrator.

This may be a problem for users connected to the VPN. Try disconnecting and checking for updates, it will work. It worked for me

Maybe you can try: Settings → System Preferences → HTTP Proxies → Automatically Detect Proxy Settings.

I have the same problem. To fix this, I had to manually download a newer version from https://developer.android.com/studio/ .

I am currently using Android Studio 3.2.1 and it is updating normally.

In addition, under Preferences> Appearance and Behavior> System Preferences> HTTP Proxies, make sure that the Automatically Detect Proxy Server Settings box is checked.
