Javafx project not compiling with maven

Question

I have a Java FX project, and I'm using maven 3.0.5 to build. When I run mvn package / install, the project crashes and complains that the javafx package. * Does not exist. Javafx is packaged in Java 1.7 for my understanding, so it makes no sense that the assembly does not take this. When I compile it in my IDE (intellij), it works fine, and after that my maven build also installs successfully, however I don't want to go through the IDE every time I do a clean install. any ideas?

placing this in the dependencies (depending on where your jdk is located) will help compile the dependency, however you should probably replace it with a variable that the user can specify in his settings.xml or maven system properties:
