JQuery Mobile and PhoneGap Performance Issues

Question

I am currently working on a PhoneGap and JQM project, and the project is reasonably completed, the only problem I encountered is jQuery Mobile itself. The application seems to be sluggish and slow. Transitions between pages are slow. Showing and hiding animations is tragic, etc. Are there any other alternatives to getting a reasonable, pleasant user experience with PhoneGap, taking all these issues into account?

You can use Angular or Backbone with Bootstrap to get a reasonable enjoyable user interface experience.
