Apple Mail in Mavericks: Any way to change MinimumHTMLFontSize?

Prior to 10.9, the following command line command was used:

defaults write com.apple.mail MinimumHTMLFontSize 12

But at Mavericks, it doesn't seem to be working anymore.

Has anyone found another way to increase the minimum default font size for new posts? Some HTML messages come in tiny, almost unreadable font sizes.

As in OS X 10.9, Mail respects the clear font sizes in the HTML message. This value is no longer used. I recommend that you indicate a mistake if you want something else. http://bugreporter.apple.com

Yes! I have found a solution! I found it at http://9to5mac.com/2013/12/08/how-to-take-advantage-of-zoom-and-large-text-in-os-x-mavericks/

This happens as follows: In Mail settings, the settings are on the Fonts and Colors tab. You can configure the font "Message List" and "Message Font" separately. (The message list font changes the appearance of incoming messages, the message font changes the body of email messages.) Using the selection buttons, you can set them for any font size. However, the font size of the message list is indeed configurable if you select Use Classic Layout on the View tab.

See my similar question and solution on the apple bag exchange site for a partial solution to your question:

In a nutshell, although I did not find a direct analogue to this hidden preference, I was able to override the most common instances of tiny font sizes in a message reader by editing the CSS resource file in Mail.app on its own.
