IOS 64-bit dual-size application

I just introduced an app update for the iOS AppStore with 64-bit and 32-bit compatibility. I have not changed anything except the 64-bit architecture, but the size of the application now almost doubles from up to 64-bit from 2.7 MB to 4.5 MB.

Is this normal when compiling an application for both 64-bit and 32-bit iOS devices? Why is this happening (someone wants to explain in technical terms)? Or did something scared happen in Xcode?

This is pretty normal, because the code is compiled twice - once for 32 and once for 64-bit architectures.
