Getting started with the Jboss ESB fuse

I am new to ESB and trying to understand ESB concepts and real world usage examples.

I dug up some open source ESB products, it looks like Apache Camel is the most famous one [of the Apache family].

I found out that most people use Jboss Fuse, which was developed on Apache Camel, or it is some more added functions over Camel.

Although, I’ve been trying and searching the Internet for almost half a day and can’t find out when we use the ESB and the real world script and the basic tutorial to start and understand Fuse ESB.

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to overcome this and on the roadmap, I also need to integrate them with the Liferay portal.

The project website for JBoss Fuse is here:

Below the website there are links to the official JBoss Fuse documentation, which is currently located at https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/JBoss_Fuse/ - there you can find the initial guides and much more.

There are several examples in the JBoss Fuse distribution in the examples directory (which will be renamed quickstarts in the upcoming release of JBoss Fuse 6.1). These examples have readme files with instructions on how to create, deploy, and run them.

JBoss Fuse comes with a box of Apache Camel, which is often the easiest part to develop applications for integrating applications. I also suggest exploring Camel. There is a lot of stuff on Camel on the Apache Camel website, as well as some stackoverflow pointers on how to get started with Camel, etc. There are also books.

You can find JBoss Fuse to get started with Google. For Liferay portal integration, I think you can check camel-jcr for more information.
