VS 2013 xaml editor and Microsoft.VCLibs.120.00.Debug

I recently installed VS 2013 on Windows 8.1 . When I open any xaml file, I get this error message below.

This happens even if I create a project from scratch in VS 2013 . I tried reinstalling Windows 8.1 and VS 2013 .

Has anyone encountered this problem?

The exceptional System.Exception package has completed an update, dependency, or conflict check.

Windows cannot install the App.a94e67374.a8775.a4662.ab57f.a7f1805386d2c package because this package depends on another package that cannot be found. This package requires a minimum version of 0.0.0.0 of the Microsoft.VCLibs.120.00.Debug framework published by any publisher for installation. Provide the structure along with this package.

I had the same error as you.

I registered and got a developer license. After registration, I debugged the program, and all this was fixed on my own

I use Windows 10 to fix it, I go to setup → Update and security → For developers, I select the developer mode. In Windows 8 and 8.1 I do not know. setting indicator

This happened to me with both VS 2013 and VS 2015. I think this is a common problem when VS is just installed.

I solved this just with starting VS with administrator rights (right-click on the VS element in Windows 8 and select "Run as administrator") and open the XAML file with the editor. This takes longer than usual, but then the problem itself is corrected.

After that, you can continue to use VS with standard user privileges.

Unfortunately, none of the solutions above seemed to work for me.

My installation of Windows 8 is quite old, and over the years I have installed several versions of the visual studio, such as 2010,2012 and 2013.

Even deleting the visual studio will leave a lot of files and packages.

I managed to fix this problem with the following steps: 1. Install Revo Uninstaller and from the options menu I turned on “Show system components”. 2. For some reason, along with the final installation of visual studio 2013 (the main application - do not delete it), I removed two installations related to the main Visual Studio 2013 application, for example: vs 2013 premium and vs 2013 professional, in addition to the main application ( Repeat : do not remove the main application ) 3. Remove all Microsoft Visual C ++ runtime packages. 4. Conducted repair of the visual studio

Something else that I would rather do than do a full repair, since it takes too long to remove all the visual C ++ runtime packages and everything related to them (you can block some applications, but they are easy find and easier to install)

and just reinstall these C ++ visual forwardings starting with the latest version and see if it works.

Before anything, make sure that you have a developer license, as indicated in a previous post (there is no developer account, you do not have to pay anything yet).

I will try to provide a step-by-step guide to resolve the issue.

  • Create an MSDN account here https://msdn.microsoft.com and use your credentials to log in to VS 2013

  • You need to enable the "Developer Mode" option from UPDATE and SECURITY (Windows 10). Attaching a screen for clarity.

This should solve the problem, but if it is not,

  • Try restarting Visual Studio as an administrator.
