OS X Mavericks Push Notifications in Chrome

A new version of OS X called Mavericks provides a new push push feature. This is a great feature because it allows you to receive notifications even if my macbook cover is closed. But for some time I started using Chrome instead of Safari, but when I click Notifications, Safari opens automatically. Can I open these notifications using Chrome? Chrome is configured as the default browser.

No, as these are specifically Safari Push Notifications using the Apple Push Notification Service (APN) .

In theory, Google can release a version of Chrome through the App Store for OS X and, as a registered developer, use APN, mainly by creating Chrome Push notifications (CPN). Like Apple, Google will have to provide its own developer console to third parties in order to register its website / application for sending CPN. This will allow Google to cancel anyone who abuses the service. Google will host servers for receiving CPN, which, in turn, will redirect messages to Apple APN and go to Chrome on OS X. I do not expect that we will see that Google will support this in the near future, since it is exclusively OS technology X. An alternative is that Google can run its own daemon on OS X (and other platforms) to receive push notifications and wake Chrome up.

Chrome recently added Push Messaging and Notifications to Chrome on all desktop platforms and Android. It uses the Google Cloud Messaging platform, and not the default Apple APN service, the notifications you create will also not be notified at the system level, but rather appear in the small Chrome Bell icon at the top of the screen.
