Detection if an answering machine picks up

In our Twilio application, a number is dialed, a call is recorded, and the URL is sent to the administrator. The problem arises when no one answers the call, and the customer call answering service selects and processes the caller (maybe forwards them to another number). Can we detect when the answer service picks up to process the call and stops recording / hang? Is there an event? I understand that we can detect when the answering machine receives sound signals, but is it possible higher?

Thanks.

The Twilight Evangelist is here.

We have an answering machine detection , but please keep in mind that answering any service with an answering machine is more an art than a science.

To use Twilios autoresponder detection, you include the ifMachine parameter in your TwiML.

Hope this helps.

Also note that in the UK there are OFCOM autoresponder detection rules for silent calls.

There may be heavy fines for violating this, TalkTalk has been fined £ 750,000 this year.
