Visual Studio Online Migration (VSO to VSO) - more than just code

a similar question is Migration to Visual Studio Online (VSO to VSO) - however, we are looking for more than just source code migration. We would like to take everything, code, work items, including links, test plans, test results, the whole shebang.

Has anyone done this, is it possible or even better supported?

Microsoft has partnered with OpsHub to support this scenario. This is recommended using the TFS integration tools.

OpsHub provides a free version of its tool, which you can find here here . This tool supports migration:

  • All information and version control history
  • All work items and history
  • All test cases and test results

If you need more features, such as porting a custom process template, you need to use the paid version .

This does not work. The OpsHub tool requires a TFS repository as a source, not a VSO repository. The commercial version may provide an opportunity, but this is not clear from the website.

Our company faced the same problem 2 months ago and spent more than 2 months scratching my head and wandering around what to do. We had a project with an outsourcing company, and we decided to create a repository with them. When the project was over, we wanted to transfer the project to our own VSO.

I was surprised to learn that moving the entire history of changes is only possible using the EXPENSIVE software. It is impossible to pay 5K for 2-3 projects. We asked for Microsoft support, and they said that we can change the owner of the entire VSO account or pay. MS played well!

I started searching the Internet and asked people, and in the end we found out a small company specializing in such services called RuseSoft / www. rusesoft.com. The guys were very helpful, and for several hundred we moved projects with ALL STORY! They took them in less than 24 hours from the moment we contacted them.

Still wandering why MS is doing this, and the OPS Hub asks for 5K!

Hope this helps!
