What do these arrows mean in Eclipse Kepler?

I have these arrows on multiple files in a Dynamic Web project in Eclipse Kepler. What do they mean?

If you use a version control system (for example, Git, SVN or CVS), then you have changed the file since you last updated it.

Most version control systems let you customize this symbol and other shortcut options. For example, SVN is located under Settings> Command> SVN> Labels.
