How to solve the error "zlibinstream: above bytesIn" in vnc

From time to time I get the error "zlibinstream: above bytesIn" when trying to connect to my server through my vnc. Why am I getting this error and how to solve it when I get it - without rebooting my server?

The same question has occurred several times. I don’t know about the permanent fix, but for quick, just change the color to Fullcolour.

For me in VNC Viewer, this was in the / Expert / FullColour options for true.

What worked for me was to disable “ Adapt to network speed (recommended) ” (under Options->Display ), and then move the compression slider to the left of “ All available colors, medium compression ” to “ Hundreds of colors ”.

Prior to this, Burpy Burp's answer to changing the / Expert / FullColour parameters to true temporarily fixed the problem, but he returned after 22 days.

This seems to be due to timing. On my mac, I have the same problem and usually wait some time, and retrying is the only thing that works for me. He always returns, but is not an immediate decision.

Just for googlers who find this question: changing the “preferred encoding” to something other than “ZRLE” (I used the “hextile”), this is what solved the problem for me.

Another quick fix (for Mac):

Reading other answers and trying out a few, I feel that random properties / parameters will "solve" this problem. For Real VNC on Mac, follow these steps:

Options → Image Quality → High. Then return it to the "Automatic" position.

In my case, the solution is simply to change the quality to Low . This seems to be normal.

Opening the options dialog without changing anything did this for me. Upset .
