Why do my line numbers keep fading in Android Studio?

I want to display line numbers in my Android Studio editors.

I turned on the line numbers in the settings

Preferences > Editor > Appearance

However, line numbers are not displayed.

If I drop out of the View menu and look at the Show Line Numbers parameter, it is NOT checked.

View > Active Editor > Show Line Numbers

If I checked it, line numbers will appear. However, if I move my pointer to another character or string, they disappear immediately.

Why is this happening?

As @pgoggijr already said, this is a problem that I ran into IDEAVim. however you do not need to disable vim. Just use vim commands

 :set nu

and

 :set nonu

to turn line numbers on and off, and they remain :)

I assume that you are using the ideaVim emulator.

It seems that the ideaVim plugin has an error that appeared in the latest versions of Android Studio, which displays line numbers after moving the cursor

Turn off the emulator (tools> VIM emulator) and everything should be fine.
