Android Launcher Rounded Corner Edge Radii Icon

Are there any official recommendations regarding how many pixels should have edge radii when the icons on the Android launcher have rounded corners?

I found recommendations for pixel sizes in startup icons (but rounded corners are not mentioned), a tool called Android Asset Studio that rounds corners for you (but this tool provides unwanted and non-custom padding around the edges of each icon) and another tool called Icon Slayer (but this tool creates corners that, in my opinion, are too round and look very iOS).

I also noticed that of all the applications that I personally use with rounded corners on the launch icons, the radii of the edges almost always change from icon to icon. When I put various icons next to each other, some of them look pretty close, but basically they are slightly different from each other.

Any help?

Give up the Official Material Design Guidelines for Google Badges about two-thirds of the way down the page under the Corner heading.
It indicates that you should use a 2px radius in the corners. If you go to several sections, under the heading Content Area you will see that it is a 24x24 pixel icon. You can scale for other permissions from there.

The radius of the corners should be 8.33% of the size of the icon in accordance with the recommendations of the Material.

Thus, if the size of the icon in your project is: 1000 by 1000 pixels , then the radius of the corner should be 83.3 pixels .

However, you should probably make your document bigger than that. Maybe 2000px at 2000px , and the radius:

  • 2000 pixels * 0.0833 = 166.6 pixels

This is just in case you need to export a version of your icon that is larger than 1k px.

The squares and rectangles on the 192x192 px grid used as background shapes for the Android product icon should always have corners of radius 12px.
