BEA-141297 - Failed to get server file lock

When trying to start Oracle Weblogic Server, the following error appears:

<Info> <Management> <BEA-141297> <Could not get the server file lock. Ensure that another server is not running in the same directory. Retrying for another 60 seconds.> 

How to overcome this error and start the server?

An error means that there is a file lock that cannot be released because the server has not previously been disconnected correctly.

In this case, you must follow these steps:

• Go to the tmp folder in the $DOMAIN_HOME . (for example: C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_Home\user_projects\domains\mydomain\servers\AdminServer\tmp )
• Delete the lock file for the server instance, AdminServer.lok
• Check if there are any java.exe processes that should not be. If they are, they will need to be killed.
• Reboot server
