RecyclerView getChildCount () and getItemCount () returns the same value

Question

RecyclerView has an InfiniteScrollListener and inside this listener, in the OnScrolled() method, I calculate the visible and total number of elements to check whether new elements should be loaded. When totalItemCount and visibleItemCount are the same, this causes an endless load cycle. The listener works flawlessly with my other RecyclerView , which does NOT have a CoordinatorLayout or NestedScrollView as a parent. I want to keep this structure because the client will not accept the change.

I have a fragment inside an action that has a layout like this
