Impossible to imitate older versions of Chrome from DevTools, as is possible in IE. It is not very reliable to simulate. I used the IE 8 emulator in the past, and sometimes it provided different results from the version installed on the XP virtual machine.
In theory, it should be possible to install multiple instances of Chrome side by side, since the installation directory is OS-based. However, I do not think that the installations are completely isolated from each other. At least on Windows, the application will most likely be written to the same registry keys. On OSX, you can be fine if you change the path to the user's directory.
An alternative solution is to try to port portable versions of Chrome that appear over the Internet, usually illegally. Everything is self-contained in the directory, but most likely it will work differently than regular installations. Check out PortableApps .
I think the best solution would be to configure some virtual machines for different environments and browsers with which you want to test. You can manually configure them using VirtualBox or similar. Many hosting providers will allow you to create new virtual machines with automated tasks for installing applications and services. You have to pay for them.
