Which google analytics uses cocoapods to use

From official documentation, Google suggests using a submodule from Google pod

pod 'Google/Analytics'

But if you search on cocoapods.org , there is a separate block supported by Google called GoogleAnalytics

At the time of this writing, in the official documentation , they also have a note that makes things more confusing:

Note. Starting with version 3.16 of the Google Analytics SDK for iOS, Xcode 7.3 or higher is required.

The current version of Google is 3.0.3

The current version of GoogleAnalytics pod is 3.16.0

Of . Google podspec we see that it has a dependent "GoogleAnalytics" , but also " FirebaseAnalytics

  • Is GoogleAnalytics not intended for direct use (e.g. GoogleUtilities )?
  • Why does the Google pod (version 3.0.3) use the "FirebaseAnalytics" module and how does this affect the Google Analytics toolbar?

The Google/Analytics module is the one that should be used when implementing Google Analytics in an iOS application. You are correct that the GoogleAnalytics block GoogleAnalytics not intended for direct use; we will update the description of pod.
