Is it safe to remove old versions of Gradle?

I recently noticed that the .gradle folder in my home directory exploded to a size of almost 2 GB. This is mainly due to all older versions located in .gradle/wrapper/dists .

I am currently running v3.0, so I need to save all these other binaries and will there be a conflict with AndroidStudio, which itself launches the Gradle internal shell in version v2.2.0?

You can safely remove the ~/.gradle . It is created by the Gradle shell to store and cache downloaded files, so it simply populates the folder with the files needed for future builds.

Please note that if you made any changes yourself to this directory, you may need to save these files, for example, the file ~/.gradle/gradle.properties .
