ProjectFilesBackup folder in Android studio project for latest version

If we update the Android studio with the latest version and update the plugin. A folder called projectFilesBackup created when we opened our old Android studio project in the latest version for Android.

My question is: why was this folder created, why is it needed, and how long should we keep this folder in our project folder?

When you decided to continue in the Project Conversion dialog box, IntelliJ created this file.

IntelliJ IDEA will back up old versions of project files in the projectFilesBackUp folder in your project, so you can easily go back to the old version of the project by replacing the project files with the old ones.

If the project works correctly, you can delete the file.
