Design an add-in compatible with multiple versions

I created the Outlook VSTO add-in as part of my 2010 forecast. But it seems that it does not work when it was deployed in Outlook 2007. An ineffective way to solve the problem compiles again in Outlook 2007. Is there a better way to make it work in both versions? thanks

I have the same problem. What I did was test at the beginning of the add (launch function) if the version of Outlook is 14 (in 2010) or not. But I had to install Office 2007 and compile the Outlook 2007 project again to see the result. The program is functional, but I still have some errors.

You only need to create one Outlook VSTO add-in according to this article.

Basically, the new interop built-in type feature in Visual Studio 2010 helps the add-in to enable PIA at run time. The only problem is that you need to encode the lower denominator (2007) or check the version of Outlook in the code and enable the necessary 2010 features.

Alternative: you can consider using a third-party tool (www.add-in-express.com), this tool allows you to create add-ons independent of the version.
