You have installed the Pro Tools Power Tools extension, which, among other functions, allows you to customize the colors of the tabs. The idea is that you can colorize the tabs either on the basis of the project with which they are associated and / or the language in which the file is written (which is implemented through the file extension).
These tab coloring features are part of the overall Custom Document Well package, which provides many advanced settings for document tabs. If you want none of this, but use the other features of the productivity tools, you can turn them off. Go to Tools & rarr; Settings & rarr; Productivity tools, and then turn off the custom document.

If you just want to turn off coloring and return the tabs to their default colors, go to Tools & rarr; Settings & rarr; Performance Power Tools & rarr; Custom Document Ok, and uncheck both the Color Tabs checkbox:

If you just don't like the default colors and want to change them, then you can do this by choosing Tools & rarr; Settings & rarr; Performance Power Tools & rarr; User Document Well & rarr; Color coding:

There are other interesting options; don't forget to explore! Personally, this is one of my favorite features, because it allows me to immediately distinguish between headers, C code, C ++ code, assembly code and resource files, which makes it easy to find the one I want to switch to. I can recognize colors much faster than I can read names. (Coloring a project is less useful to me, as I tend to work on only one project at a time, but I see that it is also very useful for the same reasons. People have evolved to make colors very quickly.)
Update: This is not available for Visual Studio 2019; see this thread in the developer community where the community has requested support and subsequently abandoned Microsoft.
