What SCM means in Jenkins

Question

I have an option (plugin?) Called "Poll SCM" in Jenkins, and I know what it does and how to use it. Please tell me what "SCM" means. Is it "Source Control", "Code Sync [Something]"?

SCM = Source Control

Section: Build Your Jenkins Pipeline Project

Step 6. In the "Definition" field, select the "Pipeline" script from SCM. This option tells Jenkins to get your pipeline from Source Control Management (SCM) , which will be your locally cloned Git repository.
