Access IIS host from guest OS in VMWare

How can I access the site configured in IIS 7 on the host machine from the guest OS in VMWare (Fedora 10). I configured the virtual machine to use "NAT"

Depends on your network configuration of the vmware product you are using (player, server, workstation). If it is configured for bridged mode, you can do it like any other computer - by the IP address of the host machine. If this is host-only or NAT mode, check what the gateway IP address is for the guest (/ sbin / route), and try using it:

# /sbin/route Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface default 10.xyz 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0 

In this case, 10.xyz is the ip of the host machine.

Pretty easy ...

Step 1 Configure IIS on the host OS to enable binding if you want to use the "url". e.g. mySite.com

Step 2. In guest mode, open the hosts file c: \ windows \ system32 \ drivers \ etc \ hosts.

Add a note

[hostip address] [host iis bining url]

Example

192.168.0.1 mySite.com

restart the browser on the guest system and you should be fine.
