What does stdout mean in display_errors in phpinfo ()?

Question

I have a 'stdout' under display_errors in my phpinfo.

What does it mean?

Where can I find documentation about this?

I could not find it at http://php.net/

I read here , reporting that it should be disabled for security reasons.

stdout is the output stream that is used for normal output. echo "hello worl"; outputs to standard output. You can also enter the file or output to stderr. I don't think stderr is useful in a network context, but I could be wrong.
