C ++ went through two main stages of its evolution.
In the early days, Bjarn Straustrup made a tongue. He obviously borrowed ideas from others and requested from several clever language developers, and no doubt he had a small team, but the language was mostly his child.
In those days, I really have no problem with Stroustrup developing the language. Obviously, he did not do this in a vacuum, he received great help from others, but that was exactly so. They helped him develop his own language. They did not take responsibility for this.
The second phase is now: the ISO standard. They are supported by committees, and in the C ++ committee, Stroustrup is just one of many members. His words may still carry even more weight due to his history with the language, but in principle he no longer has a special status. He is just a contributor, like everyone else on the committee.
At the moment when the language was standardized, it ceased to be "their" language. After that, he and many others simply helped ISO maintain and develop the language.
At least as I see it.
