Rare checks and svn: external

Question

I am trying to do a little check of a folder containing external ones, but none of the external instances are checked. This problem seems to indicate that this behavior may be by design, or at least it is not clear what the behavior should be. From my point of view, the obvious behavior is that external links are treated like any other directory and checked according to the same sparse extract rules.

Is there any way around this other than manually checking the external ones?

Not. Subversion only pulls external ones if you do a recursive check of a directory that has the svn:externals property.
