How to manually copy assemblies in the GAC?

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate, trying to manually copy the file to the GAC. I tried using Windows Explorer, but it quickly tells me that "Access is denied." I tried using the elevated command prompt and it says the file was copied, but I cannot find the assembly anywhere.

I am updating a third-party spreadsheet component (GemBox), and the update process involves manually deleting the new version of the assembly in the dev GAC of the machine. Any suggestions?

You can try installing it with gacutil:

gacutil -I yourassembly.dll

You can find gacutil in C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Microsoft SDK \ Windows \ v7.0A \ Bin \ x64
