What is the difference between a branch from a workspace version and the latest version

If I started to make changes, and then realized that I had to have a forked one, I assumed that if I create a branch "from version by workspace", I would get a new branch with my version of the workspace in the branch. But it seems that this is not so, so I am now confused about the different branching options from the version with Team Foundation Server 2008.

I would agree with you intentionally, but forking around the workspace means that if you, say, last checked Changes 107 and the last change set is 109, and you roll out across the workspace, then TFS accepts Changeset 107 as the base for the new branch. In this case, local changes are ignored.

Best wishes,
Fabian
