JQuery Dialog blocks Firefox hotkeys

I am currently working with jQuery 1.4.2 and jQuery UI 1.8.2.

I experience some kind of strange behavior after I closed the modal dialogue. When I try to reload the page with Ctrl + F5, nothing happens. Another oddity is that the Firefox context menu can only be opened by double-clicking twice.

The Firebug console shows me the following message when I press the Ctrl key: The charCode property of the keydown event should not be used. Value does not make sense.

This is the intended behavior ... however, there is a difference in the browser. Firefox does not focus inside an open dialog.

If you press out modal and try F5 in any other browser, the same effect without updating.
Also, if you click inside modal with Firefox, your F5 will work.

To make this behavior consistent in different browsers, focus the element that you open, or, if you want, focus one of the buttons ... or it will have the same effect if you press a key inside a dialog.

For the error message:

The charCode property of the keydown event should not be used. Value does not make sense.

This is how jQuery performs some actions, you can ignore it ... it does not affect your current problem.
