Case Insensitive LDAP Queries

What is the syntax for doing case-insensitive matching of the 'uid' attribute? If the attribute definition matters, how will it be changed? In particular, I use ApacheDS for my LDAP repository.

(uid=mixCaseUSer) will match uid mixedcaseduser.

According to OID Description for 0.9.2342.19200300.100.1.1 - Userid userId defined as EQUALITY MATCHING RULE caseIgnoreMatch

This means that this is one of the attribute definitions that uses case insensibility by default.

I think they are case insensitive by default, unless its password attribute.
