Good link to color change features?

I can not find a good link about color modifications (such as contrast, brightness, gamma, ...).

(Is there a more accurate term for what I mean?)

I liked the tutorial with sample images and implementation algorithms.

Thanks!

EDIT:
Platform and language are not so important. I'm interested in pure mathematical algorithms, so please do not tell me the graphical APIs;)

A bit dry but usually thorough color information: http://www.poynton.com/ColorFAQ.html

Only part of what you are asking for, but probably useful: http://www.brucelindbloom.com/index.html?Equations.html

I found Charles Poynton's book , Digital Video and HDTV: Algorithms and Interfaces , are extremely useful in this area. Do not be fooled by the word "video" in the title; it contains all sorts of wonderful information about still images. The explanation of gamma is especially good. If you cannot find the book in your library, the Poynton Color FAQs and the Gamma FAQ are also somewhat useful. But the book is really wonderful!
