How can I remain productive on the one hand completely immobilized?

I broke my left collarbone and my left hand is completely immobilized, so I can only print with my right hand (thank God I'm right-handed). As you can imagine, my print speed is significantly reduced.

Can anyone suggest a way to overcome this obstacle, perhaps some kind of emacs mode or a Visual Studio plugin specifically designed for people who can enter only one hand?

I am not a big mouse user, so any suggestions on how to simplify my interaction with the OS (Linux, Windows) are welcome.

Take the time it takes to heal, allow yourself to heal!

If this is not an option, try to come up with as much as you can before touching the keyboard. (I try to do it anyway .. even sometimes works for me :-)

But first of all, take care and get well soon!

I met a programmer with an artificial fictitious arm. However, he recruited me faster than I did, and he did it in regular editors. So typing speed in such circumstances is just a habit, I think.

Examine the right keyboard of the dvorak. You can switch to this layout on Windows, Mac, or Linux. The windows are located under the control panel, regional.

Speech recognition can help a lot. But you know, it will not be so long until you return your hand.

I think you have nothing to worry about, if you are very good at emacs commands, I am reading https://stackoverflow.com/a/166609/ that there is some solution for working in visual studio with emacs, I will try to find / find out more about this and edit this answer when something is added. Good luck.
