Are there somewhere old versions of manuals for UX?

Since I read the Windows User Interaction Guide (there is access to a PDF file), I found it to be superb self-derogatory, humbly pointing to my terrible user interface practices, long criticized by Joel Spolsky .

I would like to know, however, what they had in mind when they made these mistakes. Is this a (awesome) UX Guide document something new or were there previous issues? If so, where can I find them? My prayers to Google did not give any leniency.

EDIT: Award will be awarded to anyone who finds an official (Microsoft) UX or UI landmark published before Windows XP.

Microsoft Windows User Experience: Official Recommendations for UI Developers and Designers

This book appears to have been originally published in September 1999 and covers Windows 98 and Windows 2000. The first revision was in 2002 and can be found here on Amazon. Of course, this is not free, but it looks like it might be like what you are looking for.

Windows Interface Guides

It appears that the Windows Interface Guide was the forerunner of the book above and was originally published in 1995. Here is a PDF version of the Windows Interface Guide

New Windows Interface

This book was published in 1994 and is designed for Windows 95. It looks like you can get the book right now through Amazon for $ 1.50 or $ 0.15.
