Can the iPhone iPhone application use the camera?

I have a web application and I want to take photos and then upload them to the server. Can this be done using webapp?

No, webapp cannot access internal devices. Try using PhoneGap to bridge the gap between your application and internal devices. But this will compile the application that needs to be distributed through the Apple Store.

Now it is possible with iOS 6 and HTML5.

Using the <input> , you can get the input file from the camera or gallery (the familiar ones “take photos or videos, select existing ones”). Try:

 <input type="file"> 

this will pull out the aforementioned options dialog. You can also add an accept attribute to indicate whether you want image or video , for example:

 <input type=file accept="image/*">

You can create “provisioning profiles” for up to 100 different devices to directly install applications without going through the App Store. The installation process is not as simple as calling a URL or downloading something from the App Store, but at least you can restrict distribution to certain people without revealing the existence of the application in the public application store.
