Django - Serving and Managing Permissions for Static Content

I have certain documents that I want to restrict access through Django to authorized users only with permissions.

If I am going to use Django as a proxy to serve static files in a view, what are the consequences? I'm used to serving static files in Apache and setting up that my media is served without any handlers, but what happens if someone starts downloading 500 MB through my Django proxy? Will my Django stream be blocked for this user until he receives a 500 MB response?

You can use apache auth from django.contrib.auth.handlers.modpython to handle permissions.
