Change the .JAR file icon

How can I change the icon of the .JAR file I want to distribute? I changed the icon that shows when the program is running, but I want to change the icon in the environment (for example, Windows XP), that is, for the file itself. I googled, but the best I could find was converting the .JAR to .EXE , which is not the best choice.

The icon is the OS decision, not yours: - (

In a particular client, you can change the local settings for the .JAR extension, but not as a general distribution mechanism

This is a limitation in integrating Java with the underlying operating system. The jar file format does not have a place for these icons, and then Windows does not easily support pulling icons from data files, and the Java installation method does not add any hooks to Windows Explorer that could pull icons (if they were for virtually any).
