Getting started with web sockets

I am very interested in learning about a new feature in HTML5 called web sockets. I looked into it and went out with a few questions.

It seems that before I can start introducing this new technology into my web application, I need to have a web server that supports it. Is this related to downloading and installing on the specified server? Is there more than one available? If so, where can I find them?

I already have experience with JavaScript and HTML / CSS, of course, are there any other languages ​​that I need to learn to start with using web sockets?
