How to associate a private key with a certificate in keychain

I just downloaded iphone sdk 4. When I try to install on the device, I get

"Code sign error: iPhone Developer 'id is not valid certificate / private key in default keychain"

I went through the process of creating a training profile and certificate through the Provisioning Assistant for iphone. However, after installing the profile and certificate, the assistant asks to check whether the public and private keys are grouped (which is surprising, it shows that it looks like a private key and the certificate is conjugated, that is, the certificate is under the private key in hierarchical terms. This does not apply to my key chain There are public key, private key and certificate available, but there seems to be no association.

Does anyone know how to connect the private key and certificate in the key chain, please, please?

ps. I checked this topic, but I hope it will be easier there.

I wrote a wiki page (here) that describes how to export your pair of certificates and private keys. It was intended for my iOS development clients to send their ad-hoc to me, but I believe that it will also solve your problem. The key is to make sure that you export the certificate and the private key PAI at a time - not like two separate exports.

Hopefully the screenshot at the bottom of this page will help.
