C ++ cross platform for processes: is POCO lib good? other alternatives?

I would like to use some C ++ cross-platform library to start, stop and get standard output for processes. I found and would like to use C ++ POCO libraries: are these good ones?

What are the best alternatives? I use Boost, and they have the Boost Process, but it is not part of the official release and AFAIK, it will not be very soon (development stopped in 2008). Can you give me a little advice on this POCO library or another?

I do not have direct experience with Processes lib in POCO, but I am a big fan of the project as a whole and network and stream libraries in particular. Works fine under Windows (MinGW and VS), OS X and Linux.

I used the POCO cross platform for iOS / Android, and these were very simple, dynamic pointers, threads, and more. There was some threshold when it started first, but as soon as the first sample started: no problems ... You can check out our entire project here
