End ellipse problem with TextViews

Whoa SDK, whoa ...

So, I am trying to add an ellipse to the end of my TextView (single line) before it starts. I read that ellipses are broken (develop in 2.1)? After a google search, everyone seems to suggest setting inputType in text and maxLines to 1, and you get an ellipse.

There are two problems with this: 1) Text is running from the screen, but not an ellipse. I can say that the text is running from the screen because only half of the character is displayed on the edge of the screen, but instead it does not print "...". 2) When I have an inputType installed in my TextView, clicking on my list item no longer works! When you click the button, and the onListItemClick handler does not fire, the highlight does not fire.

So...

What can i do here?

I would like to note that there are two ways to ellipse. If the whole word does not fit on the screen, hide the whole word and add an ellipse. Or just clear enough characters to fit the ellipse. Ideally, the latter is what I want.

If you want to ellipse, just use android: singleLine = "true" or android: ellipsize = "end".
