Open the start page in Visual Studio after closing the project?

When you start Visual Studio, you get a start page with all the latest projects in the list.
But when you opened and closed the project, how will you open this start page again?
(Without restarting VS)

Visual Studio 2010-2015

There menu item View → Start Page

In addition, you can leave the start page open when loading a project. To do this, there is a list below the list of projects.

(Tested in VS2010, VS2012, VS2013, VS2015)

In current versions, you can also use Quick Launch ( Ctrl + Q ) to search for a command
(Just enter the "Start Page" in the Quick Launch bar)

Visual studio 2017

There, the menu item File → Start Page

You can configure the IDE's behavior on startup through Tools → Options → Environment → Startup .

In Visual Studio 2017, the start page opens automatically when you close the solution. As far as I know, this cannot be changed directly in the IDE, but there is an extension that adds this feature. Check out this question on SO and the VSIX extension (but this will completely disable the start page - if you try to open it manually, it will be automatically closed immediately)

In VS2013, by default, I do not see the Start Page command in the View menu, but adding it was simple. The icon also looks different in VS2013.

  • Right-click on the toolbar and select Customize ... at the bottom, then go to Commands

  • Go to Toolbar / Standard , and then click the Add command button and find the Left View group

  • Finally, find the Start Page item and click OK .

Right click on the toolbar and choose ** Customize ... ** at the bottom then go to ** Commands **

Switch to ** Toolbar / Standard ** and then click the ** Add Command ** button an locate the ** View ** group on the left

Finally locate the ** Start Page ** item and click add.

At the moment, there is an extension for this purpose:

https://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/e64380ab-e3aa-4ac7-aa11-95719c5c91e9

I tried this, it works like a charm in VS 2015 :)

It was automatically in VS2008. Everything that you had open outside of any solution / project (including the start page) would close when you open the project / solution, and then when you close this product / solution, it would return to what it was opened earlier. Here's how it should work, they broke it in VS2010. So all previous VS users who are looking for an answer - no, - the technology continues to regress.

You can create custom shortcuts in VS under Tools> Options> Environment> Keyboard.

simplifies re-opening the start page. Here is my setup if you messed up the custom homepage shortcut
