I am looking for an FTP text editor (on Windows)

First of all, I have no idea if this is a question for or if it is better suited for one of its partner sites.

I noticed in this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIxDJof7xxQ - that Ian uses a text editor that allows you to maintain an FTP connection. Whenever it saves a text file (which is the HTML file in its case), this update is automatically sent to the server. I would love to do that.

I am currently using Notepad ++, in which I primarily create HTML and JavaScript text files. My machine is Windows 7. I have a web hosting account (ASP.net) for my domains, which also includes an FTP account, of course.

I'm looking for a lightweight text editor that allows you to use the features that can be seen in the above video - I want to be able to open a text file (remotely via FTP), edit it, and then just press CTRL + S to send the updated version to a remote server via FTP.

Notepad ++ doesn't have a plugin for this? I seem to have noticed that some time ago ...

Not quite what you are looking for, the FileZilla FTP client will detect that the file being edited has been modified and is prompted to download it (perhaps this can also be done automatically).

Notepad ++ is the editor you are looking for. I use it all the time to edit files on LAMP servers with FTP

under the plugins, open nppftp and click show, and the command interface for the ftp engine will appear.
