Gitorious: private mode for projects

How to make a project private in Gitorious? Does Gitorious support this at all? I searched around but couldn't find anything useful, except that Gitorious doesn't seem to have a private mode for projects. Thanks in advance.

This is not possible in Gitorious at the moment / perhaps never. At the moment there is an outstanding merge request but there is no update as to when it will hit the main line (for example, Gitorious.org).

If you need private repositories, you need to host Gitorious yourself - it's easy enough to install, and then make the entire installation confidential.

As of November 2011, there is a new supported feature called Private Repositories , track it and maintain it if you can.

Also note that the private repository feature can only be enabled if you have a local installation.

Starting with version 2.2.0, Gitorious supports private repositories. You need to check out the private-repos branch and you can create private repositories.

More information can be found on the wiki page https://gitorious.org/gitorious/pages/PrivateRepositories
