TFS Comparison Options

Question

Is there an option in TFS for comparison without returning differences in spaces? i.e. linebreaks, tabs are set differently.

SourceSafe had this option, but I cannot find it in TFS.

Yes.

Tools → Options → Source Control → Visual Studio Team Foundation Server → Customizing User Tools .. →

Add "% 5 / ignorespace" to the arguments according to this post: Spaces in Team System Compare Results

A slightly better option (IMO) is to replace the predefined comparison tool with the free SourceGear DiffMerge tool , or with BeyondCompare.

If you decide to use the SourceGear tool, then the command-line options (starting from 8/17/2011) for Studio 2010:

 -caption=%1 -nosplash -ro2 -shex -t1=%6 -t2=%7 %1 %2

To merge, remove the -ro2 option (read-only)
